RNAi (RNA interference) and CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) screening are two powerful techniques at the forefront of functional genomics research. Both techniques have significantly advanced scientists’ understanding of gene function and hold immense potential for uncovering complex biological systems and potential therapeutic targets. RNAi has been widely used for gene function studies and is effective in identifying the roles of individual genes in biological processes. CRISPR screening provides precise genome editing, making it a powerful tool for investigating gene function and genetic interactions on a large scale.

In this GEN webinar, our expert speakers will share results from two studies that demonstrate the power of RNAi and CRISPR screening to elucidate the activity of important biological networks and pathways. In his talk, Dr. Constantinos Demetriades will discuss research into how cells sense nutrient availability and environmental stress, and how the dysregulation of these mechanisms contributes to human diseases and aging. He will discuss his use of unbiased high-throughput RNAi screens to identify regulators of mTORC1, which functions as a cellular nutrient sensor. In her talk, Dr. Mikella Robinson will share results from a study focused on TWEAK, a cytokine enriched in the tumor microenvironment post-chemotherapy, whose activity results in chemoresistance and promotes relapse in ovarian cancer cases.

A live Q&A session will follow the presentation, offering you a chance to pose questions to our expert panelists.
